Caustic roasting and leaching of electric arc furnace dust

A low temperature caustic roasting process followed by leaching was investigated for the treatment of electric arc furnace dust. Caustic roasting experiments on pure zinc ferrite confirmed that the majority of the zinc ferrite is decomposed during the roasting process and is converted into soluble sodium zincate and relatively insoluble hematite.
